Police had few leads in an early Saturday shooting in southeastern Colorado Springs that left a 20 year-old man dead.

The city's fourth homicide of 2014 was discovered by officers investigating a report of gunfire on the 2800 block of Airport Road, about a block east of Valley Hi Golf Course. Officers say 20-year-old Devante Hill was found bleeding. He died at a hospital.

"No persons of interest have been identified and the investigation ongoing," police said in a brief news release.

Police say Hill lived in Colorado Springs, but released few other details in the case, which was being investigated by the department's Violent Crimes Unit.

A stretch of Airport Road from Circle Drive to Jewel Street was closed for several hours by investigators.

An autopsy Saturday confirmed Hill's identity, and the coroner ruled the death a homicide by gunfire.

Saturday's killing is the latest in a string of violence to strike the neighborhood, which police have said is a battleground for gangs.

In April one person was killed and two were injured by gunfire at a tavern two blocks from Saturday's scene. Just to the east is the site where a man was gunned down outside an apartment in July, and another July shooting injured two at Airport and Circle.

Homes a block from the shooting were sprayed with gunfire in a November incident that police described as a "drive-by."

In November, a man was shot and wounded on Airport Drive, in the same block as Saturday's killing.
