The laughs will be coming in hard and fast for Tony Baker, featured performer on our Take 10 program on Friday, Nov. 17, on the Gazette News Facebook platform during the noon hour. Baker is a comedian who recently finished performing aboard a cruise ship.
Baker moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
"After some time doing the television show 'Extra' and struggling at auditions, I thought about all the actors who started out as a comedian. So I said to myself, let me try my hand at stand-up comedy for more exposure. I performed at an open mic one time and at that moment I knew what I wanted to do. Stand-up is my life now," Baker said. A memorable experience for him was appearing on TV as a comedian on Comedy Central,
"Thank you Gabriel Iglesias and Alfred Robles. My off-stage memory was realizing that I am making a living off something I really love to do." A motivator for him is simple: laughter.
"When people tell me the laughter I provide really brightens up their days or propels them out of dark and painful times, it is such a blessing," he said.
Baker is excited to perform on Take 10 and says, "The audience can expect humor, perspective and observations they can relate to with fun and energy. On stage, I'm very mobile. I can't stand still. I am animated."
The comedy legends who inspired him to be the comic he is on stage are Damon Wayans and Sinbad. Baker's future includes touring the country and the world and in five years he sees himself on his own sitcom.
His immediate future includes being on our live Take 10 program Friday on the Gazette News Facebook platform.
