The lockdown on Mitchell High School and Wilson Elementary has been lifted while police continue to pursue multiple juveniles involved in a car theft.

Colorado Springs police said an officer from Sand Creek Division saw a suspicious vehicle that had been reported as stolen.

When police tried to make contact, the car sped away at a speed deemed too fast for police to continue to pursue.

Shortly after, police saw multiple people running away from the parked car close to where the car was initially spotted. Police so far have detained three juveniles seen running from the car and are looking for others.

The District 11 schools were placed on lockdown just before 10:30 a.m. It was lifted at about 11:15 a.m.
