PHO-NOMENAL VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT
5825 Stetson Hills Blvd., Suite. 100, 80923; 597-0277, phonomenal restaurant.com
Two visits netted two very different experiences. While the food was decent, the service varied from warm and friendly to cold and aloof. The restaurant focuses on two of my favorite foods, pho soup and bun noodle bowls, but neither one is a shining example of what Vietnamese food can be.
DISHES NOT TO MISS: Vegetarian pho ($6.50/small), vegetarian pan-fried egg noodles ($10)
THE HATCH COVER
252 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd., 80906; 576-5223, hatchcover.biz
The Hatch Cover turns out well-done bar food. While items like French fries and onion rings are pulled from the freezer instead of made from scratch, the kitchen is paying attention to the preparation. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, on the dark side and run down along the edges. The friendly service helps.
DISHES NOT TO MISS: Fried mushrooms and zucchini ($7.99), steak sandwich ($9.99)
DALE STREET BISTRO CAFE
115 E. Dale St., 80903; 578-9898, mydalestreetcafe.com
The Dale Street Bistro Cafe resides in a quaint, converted Victorian house with a lot of charm. The menu has enough variety to content almost everyone. The dishes that shine are really delicious, but the dishes that don't shine seem to be suffering from lack of attention to detail.
DISHES NOT TO MISS: Wild at Heart Pasta ($13.95), bread pudding ($4), roasted garlic ($8.50)
