Theatre 'd Art loses performance space on Nevada

In February, after almost three years, The Theatre 'd Art troupe lost its performance space at 128 N. Nevada Ave. Brian Mann, artistic director of the group, said the month-to-month lease was ended due to noise complaints from other tenants and because the group paid rent that was below market value. They'll do their next production, "A Clockwork Orange," at the Subterranean Nightclub, 128 1/2 E. Kiowa St. It opens Friday and runs Fridays-Sundays through March 23.

Mann says the company is unsure where future shows will be held. They might look around at other venues or choose a location on a spot-by-spot basis.

Star Bar Players, another local theater company, also used the Nevada Avenue space for its shows. Artistic director Alysabeth Clements-Mosley says Star Bar is looking for a new performance space.
