SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — There's a new Civil War exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
The museum says the free exhibit, "Boys in Blue IV: In Memory of Heroes," opens May 23. It includes information on Lincoln's assassination and anti-war riots in Charleston.
Museum officials say the exhibit explains how Illinois soldiers created the Grand Army of the Republic to speak out on issues affecting veterans.
The museum says more than 142,000 people visited the previous three "Boys in Blue" exhibits. The exhibits focused on the experiences of Illinois soldiers during the Civil War. The exhibits are an effort to mark the 150th anniversary of the war.
