The skies above El Paso County should be calmer Thursday evening after a moderate storm passed over the region in late afternoon.

"There's a chance of some passing light shower activity, that should be the worst of it," said Patrick Cioffi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Some thunder and lightning are possible, but the area can expect to enjoy a reprieve from the violent rains.

A significant weather advisory for the Waldo Canyon fire burn scar was issued at 4:30 p.m. Thursday after radar indicated a thunderstorm near Green Mountain Falls, 13 miles northwest of Colorado Springs, the service said. The storm was moving southeast at 15 miles per hour and dropped .05 to .15 inches of rain over the burn scar before tapering off about an hour later.

No flood advisories have been issued.
