Colorado Springs police officers recovered a stolen vehicle Monday with the help of a license plate reader, police said.

Randall Maddox, 23, was arrested on suspicion of felony motor vehicle theft and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

The license plate reader alerted patrolling officers of a vehicle reported stolen out of the Aurora Police Department about 1 p.m. near Academy Boulevard and Constitution Avenue, police said.

The driver, identified as Maddox, was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded pending notification of the owner, police said.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
