The Pikes Peak Library District began renovations at its new facility on Chapel Hills Drive Friday.

The renovation of the facility at 1175 Chapel Hills Drive, which is set to open to the public this summer, marks the groundbreaking of the Pikes Peak Library District's 21st Century Library Tri-Building Project.

The renovation project will create more than 100,000 square feet of repurposed public library space at East Library, Penrose Library, and the new facility on Chapel Hills Drive.

The renovated libraries will feature new resource centers and high-tech community spaces designed to meet the growing demands for library service.

Fundraising for the project will continue under the leadership of the Pikes Peak Library Foundation, which is working to raise about $4 million in the next three years.
