KKTV tops Colorado Springs ratings in the 10 p.m. spot

KKTV 11 News had the most-watched 10 p.m. weeknight newscasts during the fall Nielsen ratings period in November.

Anchors are Don Ward and Dianne Derby. News Director Liz Haltiwanger credited "a strong focus on breaking news, breaking weather and important investigations through our 11 Call for Action Team."

KKTV 11 News Vice President and General Manager Nick Matesi also credited the station's use of social media. "Through social media, (including 104,000 Facebook likes), we keep a constant conversation going with our viewers, so they really get to know us."

KOAA News 5 had the second-highest number of viewers for the 10 p.m. local news, followed by KRDO News Channel 13. KXRM Fox 21's weeknight news is at 9 p.m.

Early-evening news, local and network, is at different times on local stations. The Nielsen ratings for 5 p.m. showed CBS Evening News (KKTV) on top, KOAA News 5 second and KRDO News Channel 13 third.

At 5:30 p.m.: NBC Nightly News (KOAA), then KKTV 11 News and ABC World News (KRDO).

The most popular 6 p.m. show on local stations is longtime favorite "Wheel of Fortune" on KKTV. KOAA News 5 had the second highest number of viewers at 6 p.m, followed by KRDO News Channel 13.

At 6:30 p.m., KKTV 11 News pulled the most viewers, followed by KRDO's "Entertainment Tonight," which edged out KOAA News 5 and KXRM Fox 21's news.
