Gazette Premium Content Postcards from spring break: Kadets girls' lacrosse enjoys SoCal coastline

What's a trip to Southern California without multiple visits to the beach and stop at an In-N-Out Burger.

After their toughest test on the field this season Monday (and 11-9 win), the Air Academy girls' lacrosse team was planning to spend all of Tuesday at a beach in Del Mar before coming back to Colorado on Wednesday.

"It helps a lot with team bonding," said senior MacEllen McDonough, who scored five goals in Monday's win. "It brings us much closer as a team and it's helping us play better, too."

McDonough, who used to live in Laguna Beach, about an hour north of Del Mar, was plenty familiar with the area, allowing her and several teammates to recommend to the California neophytes what they should order at the famed fast-food hamburger chain.

"A Double-Double, animal style," McDonough said when asked what she ate at In-N-Out.

The trips to the beach have easily been the highlight.

"It's really fun," McDonough said. "We love the beach. We went yesterday (Sunday) all day."
