A Colorado Springs man was convicted by a jury Wednesday in the abduction and beating of an ex-girlfriend.
Michael Anthony Rivera, 25, could face more than 100 years in prison for the Jan. 17 attack, in which the woman was taken to a home in the 2300 block of Sonoma Drive and beaten with a handgun and fists.
Police say she escaped by climbing naked through a bathroom window and running to a neighbor’s house for help.
The victim, who police say reported being abducted and beaten by Rivera on a prior occasion, has been in hiding since the crime. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 23 before El Paso County District Judge David Prince.
