Jhoulys Chacin could rejoin Rockies after strong outing with Sky Sox

Jhoulys Chacin (1-1) tossed six solid innings in his second rehab start with the Sky Sox as Colorado Springs topped the Memphis Redbirds 7-1 on Tuesday in Memphis.

Chacin surrendered a run in the first inning on a RBI single by Cardinals top prospect Oscar Taveras but settled down after that to blank Memphis the rest of the way.

The righty allowed just four hits, walked four, hit one batter and struck out four in six innings. He threw 96 pitches, in what could be his final rehab start before rejoining the Rockies.

Sky Sox hitters continued their torrid hitting and gave Chacin more than enough run support.

Ryan Wheeler started the scoring in the first with a solo blast to right giving him a homer in each of the first two games of the series in Memphis.

After Memphis tied it up in the bottom of the first, Jason Pridie broke the tie for good with a monster, two-run homer to right.
