Ivywild School has achieved the summer's biggest buzz. The former Ivywild Elementary School, shut down in 2009, celebrates its transformation into a multiuse facility, with a grand opening this weekend. Events begin at 2 p.m. Friday and include a marching band, 24-foot sausage cutting and beer christening, Bob Tudor's One Man Band and other live music, cake and drink specials. On Saturday, the party starts at 10 a.m. with a $25 brunch, tours of the school at noon, music, lots of Bristol beer and a "Back-To-School Dance Party" in the gym with DJ Wesley Wayne from 8 to 11 p.m. You're encouraged to dress in attire from your favorite John Hughes-directed movie. It's at 1604 S. Cascade Ave. Details: facebook.com/IvywildSchool.
