It’s the Buddha’s 2,556th birthday, and the party is on.

The Buddhist communities of Colorado Springs will celebrate by bringing together representatives from local sanghas (groups). Guest speakers include David Gardiner, Pat Komarow, Sarah Bender and Gail Gustafson.

'There’ll be a guided, loving-kindness meditation, time to ponder a Zen Buddhist koan, music, food and chanting with Bhagavan Kirtan. Activities for kids will be provided, and a sand mandala will be created and then destroyed, 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Marmalade is at Smokebrush, 218 W. Colorado Ave., $5. Details:
444-1012, smokebrush.org.
