A man held an intruder at gunpoint in his home Tuesday night while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, according to Colorado Springs police.

Jeremy Strong, 38, was relaxing with his family around 9 p.m. when he heard glass shattering and his wife screaming. A man had broken into his house, located on the 1900 block of South Corona Avenue, east of Southgate Road.

Strong stopped the intruder, holding him at gunpoint, police said.

Having been only two doors away for a similar incident when four men initially ran into a nearby home on South Corona Avenue, police responded to Strong's house immediately.

Investigators did not give details for what prompted the disturbance, but said three of the men were possibly chasing the suspect who allegedly broke into Strong's house.

The man Strong held at gunpoint was identified as Thomas Morphet, 42.

Police said Morphet was taken into custody for escape, but Strong did not want to file trespass charges.

Morphet is being held at the El Paso County jail without bond, records show.

The three men suspected of chasing Morphet were not found and police said the investigation is ongoing.
