Authorities are looking for the driver who hit a 43-year-old blind man two weeks ago.

Brian C. Mackes, 43, was hit about 9:30 p.m. near the Security-Widfield area Oct. 9.

The crash happened at 4010 Clearview Frontage Road, near Hancock Expressway.

Authorities said a 1992 red Volkswagen Cabriolet was going north on Clearview Frontage Road, approaching Clearview Drive at Hancock Expressway, when it hit Mackes, who was standing in the road.

According to officials, two witnesses said they saw two or three males standing over Mackes, who was lying in the road. Witnesses also said that the Volkswagen’s passengers left the accident on foot.

Mackes was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.

Authorities have identified the suspected driver as Jose Salvador, who is believed to live near the area of the crash.

The Colorado State Patrol is asking anyone with information about the accident to contact the Colorado State Patrol Pueblo Regional Communication Center at 544-2424.
