Gov. John Hickenlooper has a busy schedule in Colorado Springs and El Paso County Monday, welcoming delegates from 70 countries at an international conference downtown and then touring the area damaged by the summer floods.
Hickenlooper will give the host country welcome speech at 9:45 a.m. at the International Corrections and Prisons Association 15th Annual Conference, a five-day event beginning Monday, held at the Antlers Hilton Colorado Springs.
Following his appearance at the conference, Hickenlooper will begin his flood recovery visits at 1 p.m. at 2120 N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd., then head west to Manitou Springs City Hall at 2 p.m.
Manitou Springs recovery costs, including repair and mitigation projects, were estimated at $3750,000. About $2.3 million in federal, state and county funds to cover repair costs were expected to be made available.
