Denver International Airport wants to know whose voice would best welcome travelers onto the train that serves its terminal and concourses.

The public will help choose one man and one woman to voice the "train call" announcements, telling riders where to board and which concourse they have reached.

A panel selected five men and five women - all Denver-area media personalities - from 60 nominees to be finalists for the recorded messages, an airport news release says. Voting began Monday, and DIA tweeted Tuesday morning that it already had received more than 20,000 votes.

Former 9News anchor Adele Arakawa and Denver sports announcer Alan Roach have voiced the announcements since 2007.

The "train call" historically has been recorded by Denver broadcasters, and those voices have become "a well-known fixture of the airport" in its 23-year history, the release says. On occasion, local celebrities and sports figures are featured as temporary voices for the train.

The women nominees are:

- Kim Christiansen, KUSA 9News

- Kathy Walsh, KCNC CBS 4

- Kathy Sabine, KUSA 9News

- Denise Plante, KOSI 101.1

- Anne Trujillo, KMGH Denver7

The men in the running are:

- Vic Lombardi, Altitude TV and sports radio

- Mike Nelson, KMGH Denver7

- Jeremy Hubbard, KDVR Fox31

- Gary Shapiro, KUSA 9News

- Alan Roach, Colorado Avalance and Rapids game announcer
