Temperatures soared to 88 degrees Thursday in Colorado Springs, breaking the days' record high - 85 degrees - set in 1962, the National Weather Service in Pueblo reported.
The record-high temperature was hit at 3:41 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Airport, where official measurements are made.
El Paso County remains under a red flag warning until 9 p.m. Thursday, the weather service said. A red flag warning also is in place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
The weather service predicted highs of 81 degrees Friday and 74 degrees Saturday. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny Friday and Saturday, with especially breezy weather Saturday.
