Commanders at the Air Force Academy convened a hearing Thursday into the evidence against a 10th Air Wing airman charged with sexual assault.

Academy prosecutors have charged Airman 1st Class Justin T. Burback with an assault on a female airman.

The hearing, similar to a civilian grand jury proceeding, will air the evidence in the case. After the hearing an officer who weighed the evidence will issue a recommendation on whether Burback should face a court martial.

Burback's unit, the 10th Airbase Wing, provides support services on the academy including medical care, firefighting and maintenance.
