Firefighters pried a person from a vehicle Saturday afternoon after a head-on crash near Garden of the Gods Road and Nevada Avenue.
The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee heading eastbound crossed four lanes of traffic and the center divider to hit a westbound blue Toyota Corolla head-on, according to Colorado Springs police. Another car was caught in the wreckage.
Six people, two in the Jeep and four in the Corolla, were hospitalized the wake of the wreck. Police said one passenger in the Corolla suffered a serious injury. Five people were taken to Memorial Hospital, the other passenger was taken to Penrose Hospital.
Police said all six were expected to survive.
The crash closed westbound Garden of the Gods Road between Nevada Avenue and Mark Dabling Boulevard, police said. The road was expected to reopen by 10 p.m.
