Two people are dead and a third was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision near Falcon about 6 p.m. Monday, the Colorado State Patrol said.

A Ford F150 pickup and a tow truck crashed head-on at Meridian Road and Garrett Road just south of Falcon in unincorporated El Paso County, Trooper Nate Reid said.

Two people in the Ford truck died, and the driver of the tow truck, a man, was taken to Memorial Hospital Central by helicopter with serious injuries, he said.

Reid said he didn't know the genders or ages of the two people who died in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.
