More than 200 soldiers were due back at Fort Carson after nine months in Europe. It's one installment of a day of happy homecomings as the post's 3rd Brigade Combat Team returns from the most extensive series of European war games since the end of the Cold War. More than 500 soldiers were due back Friday on three flights.
Delays have pushed the homecoming back until later Friday at the earliest. No details of the exact time of arrival are currently available.
"The brigade conducted deterrence operations in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Germany. The brigade completed large-scale movements throughout Europe nine times, participating in 10 multinational exercises with NATO Allies and partners across the region," the post said in a news release. More members of the more than 4,000-soldier brigade were expected over the weekend.
