Colorado Springs Utilities crews were kept busy on Christmas Day, with a two-hour power outage west of The Broadmoor area, and a water-main break in the Village Seven area.
Utilities spokesman Mark Murphy said a rotted power pole in a wilderness area near Old Stage Road fell over, affecting breakers that cut power to about 735 customers mid-morning. Power was restored about 12:45 p.m. after crews reset the breakers, he said.
The water-main break occurred about 9:30 a.m. at South Carefree Circle and Serendipity Circle, affecting eight residences, Murphy said. Repairs were not scheduled to be finished until about 4 p.m. Murphy said traffic wasn't affected.
Crews were in place to tackle the problems, even on Christmas.
"Water-main breaks and outages don't take a holiday," Murphy said.
