Fire crews responded to a gas main line that was hit in south Colorado Springs on Wednesday morning.

Tejon Street has been opened after being closed at Ramona Avenue after a gas main was reportedly damaged about 9 a.m., according to a tweet from the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

Colorado Springs Utilities crews clamped the gas line about 9:45 a.m. and damage is being assessed.

A contractor hit an abandoned natural gas line that was not mapped, according to utilities officials.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
