Westbound Garden of the Gods Road remained closed between Interstate 25 and Chestnut Street Tuesday night due to a gas leak, according to the Colorado Springs police.

Officials said a natural gas line was hit during construction at the 500 block of Garden of the Gods road around 3 p.m.. It down both directions of the road until around 6 p.m.

During the closures, drivers were told to expect delays and were advised to take alternate routes.

Just after 9:30 p.m., Colorado Springs Utilities tweeted, "Gas main repairs on Garden of the Gods complete in 3-4 hrs. All lanes expected to be open by Wednesday morning drive time."
