Artists, vendors, monsters, Ewoks and self-proclaimed-nerds converged in the Antler's Hilton Hotel Friday for the first day of Colorado Springs's third annual Galaxy Fest.

The multimedia/pop culture convention, runs through late Sunday night, and features everything from kid-friendly activities, workshops and CosPlay to adult-oriented entertainment including burlesque shows and kilt blowing (it's pretty much what it sounds like).

Also featuring 24-hour gaming and a 24-hour film festival, the convention offers something for fans of Sci-fi, Anime, SteamPunk, Horror and more.

Doors opened at 8 a.m. this weekend and runs until late night at the Antler's Hilton Hotel, 4 S. Cascade Ave. Players need a weekend or daily pass in order to game. Passes are available online or at the door. Details: 955-5600, galaxyfest.com
