Retired Navy Lt. Jim Downing waits for his birthday cake to be sliced Thursday at a party in honor of his 100th birthday. The party was held at The Navigators, a Colorado Springs-based ministry that the Pearl Harbor survivor and former sailor helped launch in the 1930s.
