The Uncle Wilber Fountain provided a cool down from the heat Monday afternoon in downtown Colorado Springs. According to the National Weather Service, the record high temperature of 97 degrees was set this afternoon at 1:35 PM. (Could conceivably of been hotter but could not find record of it as of 4:40PM) The previous record high temperature of 96?F was recorded in 1990. Record high temperatures are forecasted the rest of the week as well, with the exception of Wednesday, when a cool front rolls through, leaving the high temperatures near eighty degrees.
