Monte Vista Sandhill Cranes 2018

Many flocks of Sandhill Cranes make their way through the sky in the early morning sunrise as they use the Monte Vista National Wildlife refuge marshes and grasslands to feed and rest on Sunday March 11, 2018 in Monte Vista, Colorado. It’s estimated that 23,000-27,000 Sandhill Cranes migrate through the San Luis Valley biannually, with the peaks in mid-March and mid-October. Monte Vista held its annual Sandhill Crane festival starting on Friday March 9th and concluding on March 11th.
