Ruth Marianna Handler
Born: November 4, 1916, Denver
Ruth was a businesswoman and an inventor. One of her best remembered inventions is the Barbie doll.
Ouray (Ute leader)
Born: August 24, 1833, Colorado
Ouray was a Native American chief of the Uncompahgre band of the Ute tribe, which was at the time located in western Colorado. He was also acknowledged by the United States government as a chief of the Ute.
Paul Samuel Whiteman
Born: March 28, 1890, Denver
Paul was a composer, bandleader, orchestral director and violinist. In the 1920s the media referred to Whiteman as "The King of Jazz".
Ralph Livingstone Edwards
Born: June 13, 1913, Merino
Ralph was a television and radio host as well as a radio and television producer. He produced dozens of game shows but was best known for "Truth or Consequence" and "This is Your Life."
Florence Rena Sabin
Born: November 9, 1871 Central City, Colorado Territory
Florence was the first women elected to the National Academy of Science, as well as the first woman to head a department at the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research. She also was a was a pioneer for women in science.

Mary Antoinette "Tony" Perry
Born: June 27, 1888, Denver, CO
Antoinette Perry was an actress, director and co-founder of the American Theater Wing. She is also the namesake of the Tony Awards.
Byron Raymond White
Born: June 8, 1917, Fort Collins
Byron was an American football halfback as well as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Born: June 19, 1953, Denver
Larry is one of the early members of the music group Earth, Wind & Fire. Some of his songs include "Let's Groove" and "Boogie Wonderland." In 2000 he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Born: June 24, 1895, Manassa
The “Manassa Mauler” held the world heavyweight boxing title from 1919 to 1926. His aggressive style and exceptional punching power made him one of the most popular boxers in history.
