Ruth Marianna Handler

Ouray (Ute leader)

Born: August 24, 1833, Colorado

Ouray was a Native American chief of the Uncompahgre band of the Ute tribe, which was at the time located in western Colorado. He was also acknowledged by the United States government as a chief of the Ute.



Paul Samuel Whiteman

Born: March 28, 1890, Denver

Paul was a composer, bandleader, orchestral director and violinist. In the 1920s the media referred to Whiteman as "The King of Jazz".
