Volunteer Ida Wolf, on right, directs parents and students to the right tables for their age group for an Operation Homefront backpack and school supply give-away at the Hotel Elegante Conference and Event Center Monday, Aug. 4, 2014. Operation Homefront was founded in 2002, their main mission is to give military families financial assistance during deployments. The school supply outreach is a nationwide effort . In Colorado Springs 1500 backpacks were given out to approximately 600 military families. Carol Lawrence/The Gazette
