MIAMI (AP) — The Patricia And Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University kicks off its 2014 season with paintings and video by artists from Argentina and Colombia.
Argentine artist Karina Chechik presents a series of architectural influenced paintings with a nod to the mysteries of life and the divine. Her works include churches and synagogues, as well as pre-Columbian pyramids and Arabic mosques.
Colombian artist Miler Lagos, meanwhile, has produced videos based on his experience traveling through the Arctic in 2011. He presents a short on the man-made stone landmark used as a marker by caribou hunters known as the Inukshuk.
Chechik's exhibit runs through mid-April, and Lagos' videos are up through March. Other artists on display include Javier Velasco, Manuel Mendive and Humberto Castro.
