Palm Springs (Calif.) 7, Discovery Canyon 3

At Phoenix, Ariz.: Spring break had more bumps than not for Discovery Canyon (1-6), which lost four of five over its spring-break trip.

Alec Heebner went 3 for 4 and hit a home run, but also gave up 10 hits and seven runs (all earned) in five innings on the mound.

The junior walked four and struck out one batter in the Thunder's third consecutive loss.

Discovery Canyon will look to grab its first conference win when it returns home to face Vista Ridge in eight days.

Elsewhere in the team's latest loss, Jeremy Hidalgo and Jacob Hein drove in runs for the Thunder.


Thunderbird (Ariz.) 10, Widefield 3

At Phoenix, Ariz.: Even under the sweltering Arizona sun, Widefield (3-6) couldn't get its bats warmed up in time to stay close with Thunderbird.

Chase Stealey went 2-for-2 batting - drove in and scored a run in the fifth inning -but the Gladiators couldn't rebound from a 9-0 deficit on Friday afternoon.

Jacob Guthrie (1-2) suffered his second loss of the season after he gave up eight hits and 10 runs (three earned) in the midst of Widefield's fourth consecutive loss.

John Sanchez's bunch went 0-4 during their spring-break trip and will return to Colorado to face Harrison on Tuesday.
