The Fremont County Sheriff's Office arrested a man that it said sexually assaulted a woman in Penrose, allegedly threatening her with a gun.
Casey Michael Myers, 33, of Penrose, is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond at the Fremont County jail on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault and menacing, records show.
Fremont County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of K Street in Penrose around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a suicidal subject, possibly armed, Capt. Don Pinover said.
"While en route, deputies were advised that a female was at the sheriff's office reporting she had just been assaulted by Myers at his residence," Pinover said.
The victim told deputies that Myers had asked her to stop by his place before the assault, threatening her with a handgun and firing one shot into a garage wall.
When deputies arrived at Myers' residence, an hour-long standoff took place as he barricaded himself in a shed, armed with a .45 caliber handgun, Pinover said.
After an hour, Myers finally gave himself up and was taken into custody without incident.
