We know there are a ton of home brewers in the Pikes Peak region. Here's a chance to see how your beer stacks up against your neighbors' in the first Gazette Homebrew Competition.

A panel made up of local beer writers and certified judges from the Brew Brothers of Pikes Peak, a homebrew club, will pick the best in five styles, and each winner will receive a pair of free tickets to the All Colorado Beer Festival on Nov. 2 at Freedom Financial Services Expo Center, 3650 N. Nevada Ave.

The five styles are porter and stout; English pale ale and English brown ale; India pale ale and American ale; Belgian and French ale and German wheat and rye beer; light hybrid beer and amber hybrid beer.

Entries should consist of two bottles with Beer Judge Certification Program labels, available for download at www.bjcp.org/docs/SCP_BottleID.pdf.. There is no fee to take part and a limit of one entry per category and no more than three entries for any brewer. Be sure to include your name and contact information and the style of beer.

Entries must be dropped off at The Gazette, 30 S. Prospect St., by 5 p.m. Oct. 18. Winners' names will be announced in the Oct. 23 Food section.
