Colorado Springs residents can pick up free sandbags Thursday starting at 5 p.m. from the Verizon Wireless building, at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road.

Volunteers will be on hand to fill the bags and help residents load them into cars, according to a news release from the city of Colorado Springs. Bags will be available for pick-up until just after dark. For more information about flash flooding danger from the Waldo Canyon burn scar, visit the city's webstie, www.springsgov.com/floodinfo.
