Large rocks deliberately placed on a main road in Fountain since last summer have caused enough wrecks and damage to warrant felony charges, prompting police to ask for the public's help to find the culprits.

More than a dozen vehicles have been damaged or totaled in several incidents since June, when someone put large rocks in the middle of Powers Boulevard south of Fontaine Avenue, according to a statement released from Fountain police Sunday.

The wrecks have usually happened in the early morning hours and police said the total monetary damage caused to the vehicles warrants felony charges.

The culprits could be teenagers who live in the area and if identified, they could face multiple counts of reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, police said.

Anyone with information can call Fountain police at (719)382-8555, or leave an anonymous tip on the Investigations Division Tip Line at 719-382-6956, or with CrimeStoppers at 634-STOP (7867).
