A drug deal gone bad may have led to the shooting death of a 38-year-old man in the parking lot of a bar Tuesday night, according to court documents.

David James Johnson, 38 and Javar Harrison, 37, were shot while they sat in a black Lincoln Town Car parked in front of Savannah's Bar and Grill at 2510 E. Bijou St., court documents state.

Johnson died from multiple gun shot wounds and Harrison was taken to the hospital, investigators said.

The alleged shooter, 31-year-old Jason Romeo Forbes of Fountain, was arrested Thursday night. According to court documents he was sitting in the car with both victims when he allegedly opened fire.

Harrison told police that the suspect wanted to buy weed from Johnson, and that he sat in the driver's seat of the car while the two men worked out a deal for the pot, documents state.

However Forbes seemed unhappy about the price of the weed, Harrison told police, and when Johnson told him "not to take it if he didn't want it," Forbes allegedly opened fire.

Harrison managed to roll out of the car. According to court documents, he was lying on the ground near the car when Forbes allegedly walked up and shot him twice in the back before driving away.
