Investigators do not believe foul play led to the death of an 18-year-old man who was found dead in the stairwell of an apartment complex near Mitchell High School, a Colorado Springs police spokeswoman said.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning. The body was found Monday at an apartment building on the in the 1200 block of Potter Drive.

The death does not appear to be suspicious or a suicide, though detectives are awaiting final results from the autopsy - a process that can take weeks - before closing the case, said Lt. Catherine Buckley, a police spokeswoman.
