Soldiers from Fort Carson’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team will be deploying to Kosovo this spring, according to a Tuesday release.
The 3rd Battalion of the 61st Cavalry Regiment will replace soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division deployed in support of Multinational Battle Group-East in Kosovo. The rest of 2nd Brigade Combat Team is heading to Afghanistan.
According to an Army factsheet, the battle group conducts “peace support operations” and consists of about 1,000 troops from five countries – Hungary, Poland, Romania, Turkey, and the United States.
“The Soldiers… have worked and trained hard in preparation for our upcoming Kosovo deployment,” Lt. Col. Donald T. Braman, the unit’s commander, said in a release. “I am proud of our Soldiers, and we are ready to support the NATO Kosovo Force Mission.”
