A Fort Carson soldier has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting outside the Circa Nightclub in downtown Colorado Springs early Sunday morning, police said Monday.

Deangelo Brown, 22, is the 22nd homicide victim in Colorado Springs this year.

Colorado Springs is ahead of pace of the record number of homicides for a year. In 2011, a record-breaking year with 32 homicides, there were 18 homicides at this time of the year.

No arrests have been made in the city's latest homicide, and no suspects have been identified, police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.

Brown, who was pronounced dead at the hospital, joined the Army on Oct. 19, 2010. Brown, who served in the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, arrived at Fort Carson on April 18, 2011. Brown was a food service specialist. His home of record is Jacksonville, Fla., according to the Army.

Police said Brown was shot during a disturbance about 2:30 a.m. Sunday outside the nightclub, 527 S. Tejon St. Fort Carson announced Monday that Circa has been added to the list of off-limits bars and clubs for soldiers because of the deadly shooting.
