A judge sentenced a former Fort Carson soldier to two years in prison Tuesday after he was accused of setting his northeast Colorado Springs home on fire last year, according to a 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office Facebook post.

Staff Sgt. Jacob Warrum, 27, pleaded guilty on June 26 to third-degree arson.

He increased his home insurance coverage days before his house at 7568 Chasewood Loop caught fire, according to Gazette archives. Warrum was honorably discharged from the Army in June, according to his attorney.

Firefighters found gasoline and piles of burned debris in the kitchen after the fire was reported in the early hours of Sept. 14.

Warrum's wife, Kendra, was sentenced in July to two years probation after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

Court records show the couple filed for divorce in October, according to Gazette archives.
