A Fort Carson soldier was arrested Saturday in the shooting of his wife at their home in Security, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Bradley Benson, 20, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, felony menacing with a deadly weapon and prohibited use of a weapon.

Benson’s wife was taken to a local hospital where she was stable, sheriff’s spokeswoman Natalie Sosa said.

The shooting was reported in the 1300 block of Marsh Hawk Drive around 1 a.m.

Benson has no criminal history in El Paso County.
