Colorado Springs police have arrested an active Fort Carson soldier in connection with a two-suspect home invasion and sexual assault early Monday.

Felicion Alexander Charles, 22, was apprehended and charged with sexual assault, aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary. Police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said an increased bond was sought and approved because of the serious threat and psychological effect of the crime.

Ft. Carson officials confirmed Saturday that Charles is a Specialist in the 497th Engineer Company, 52nd Engineer Battalion. He is being held on $1.501 million bond at the El Paso County Jail.

Around 1 a.m., officers responded to a reports of a home invasion and sexual assault at an apartment complex on the 4000 block of Westmeadow Drive in southwestern Colorado Springs. A female victim stated that two unknown males entered her home and one sexually assaulted her at gunpoint while the other burglarized her home, according to Miller. The victim believed her attackers were possibly going to kill her.

The second suspect remains at-large.

Detectives were able to recover a number of valuable items stolen during the ordeal. Police say the investigation remains open.
