Former Colorado College defenseman Aaron Harstad signed a pro tryout agreement earlier this week with the Texas Stars, the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars.

Harstad, 24, was traded to the Idaho Steelheads from the Norfolk Admirals on Feb. 8, and promoted to Texas on Sunday. The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Texas and Dallas.

The CC alumnus appeared in 37 ECHL games this season, 33 with the Norfolk Admirals (12 points, 10 assists)  and four with the Idaho Steelheads (three points, two assists). Here is an interview when he landed in Boise.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound blue-liner competed in 26 games last season for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, recording four assists.

The Stevens Point, Wisc. native is a former seventh-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Stars play at Syracuse on Wednesday.
