Former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese traded his football jersey for a flight suit and took to the sky Tuesday with the Air Force Thunderbirds.
The hour-long flight was preceded by equipment, medical and safety briefings by Thunderbird officers and enlisted members.
Griese was introduced to the Air Force last year when he delivered a speech on warrior ethos at the National Character & Leadership Symposium at the Air Force Academy. The highlight was meeting the cadets, he said, and the opportunity to interact one-on-one with the Thunderbirds was "an honor."
"I know the Thunderbirds as the shining star of the Air Force," he said.
Griese, who played with the Broncos from 1998 through 2002, works as a football analyst on ESPN. Griese also played for the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
