Florida man is top candidate for D-11 superintendent

Staff reports Updated: February 13, 2009 at 12:00 am

School District 11 board members announced Friday they have a top candidate in the pool of three hopefuls for superintendent.

Board members Charlie Bobbitt and John Gudvangen will travel for a site visit of Dr. Nicholas Gledich's current post as superintendent in Orange County, Fla.

"We haven't voted on anything," said School Board President Tami Hasling, who said the district announced Gledich as the district's top choice to keep the public in the loop.

Michael Poore, D-11 deputy superintendent, and James Ray, an educational consultant from Flint, Mich. are the two other finalists announced earlier this month.

Gledich has not been offered the job, but the board expects to make a final decision on the position later this month.
