U.S. 24 was closed briefly between Cave of the Winds and Cascade due to a flash flooding warning in the area, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The highway reopened about 5 p.m. -- just in time for rush hour. Storm warnings for Teller and El Paso counties were cancelled just before 5 p.m. The warning had been set to expire at 6 p.m.

Heavy rain was reported in Woodland Park.
